Came down to Houston this weekend to hang with my buddy Vu and do some photography... Sat morning we dropped a bunch of framed photos off with his local photography club... They were having an annual contest for photos in a number of different categories... Judging from his competition I think he'll do well in at least a few categories...
I have been working on getting my main computer reset up with Vista 64-bit (supports more than 3GB of RAM) specifically for photo processing, as I have a ton of photos to go through from the past several months... Tonight I started working on some HDR (High Dynamic Range) pics I took last Fall during a roadtrip Jodi, Katelyn, and I did around Lake Michigan... These are the first few I finished...
Essentially HDR photos are made up of multiple exposures of the same photo which allow you to capture the detail in the darker shadow areas, as well as get the detail in the brighter areas... This gets the photo a little closer to the dynamic range that can be seen with your eyes... that's why typical point and shoot pics of sunset scenes like this never really do justice to what you actually witnessed...
Please let me know what you think of these few pics by posting in the comments so it might inspire me to do more... I believe you have to create an account to post in the comments, but I'd really appreciate it as I'm not sure who my readers are due to my infrequent posts lately... I'll do my best to work on more of these in the coming weeks...
I've been re-building my main computer lately, specifically setting it up for photo editing, and needed to update my real-time backup solution... found this choice RAID card on Newegg for $25 w/ free shipping that would work great with my 2 new Samsung F1 1TB hard drives... it has 2 internal Sata2 ports, 2 eSATA ports (either, or), and also throws in a spare IDE port for legacy support...hot! [OK, I know I lost most of you with this post, but hey there's no time like the present to expand your knowledge base :-) ]
Quite possibly my new favorite food item... the Gibson's Steakhouse filet mignon slider has got to be the greatest thing I've come across since the Hani Special at the Coney [see earlier post :-) ]...
Last week I hit up Gibson's after a day at the auto show with a Dealer of mine, and we were ordering these like they were goin out of style... the key to these though, is the creamy horseradish sauce, coupled with ketchup goodness... hungry? I sure as heck am writing this! Oh yeah, and the best part is these are only around $12 for 3 of them, which is much more economical than your typical entree at Gibson's if you've ever visited this famous Chicago steakhouse...
This video has to be right out of "Grand Theft Auto"... it's actually a video about Ford's new "B" car (that means smaller than a Focus), the Ford Fiesta...we should have this in the states by years end...they're working feverishly to get ours over here...
This video is an excerpt from the British TV show "Top Gear"... If you've never seen the show, then you obviously don't follow cars at all, cause it's by far the BEST automobile show out there, combining great car reviews with unsurpassed British comedy... It's an 11 minute video, but funny as all get out, so fill some more of your brain and take the time to watch the Fiesta kick a Corvette's butt all over the local shopping mall, and something else that your going to laugh your ass off watching, if you can make it towards the last part of the video...just do it, you'll thank me later for educating you...
These are phenomenal... And we USED to be able to get them from the Elmira Inn in northern Michigan when we go skiing... But alas, they dumped them this year... I think Gordon Food Services distributes them if anyone's interested in tracking them down... Essentially mozzarella filled breadsticks...yum
